Shoal Creek Ward

Come Worship with Us

We invite you to visit the Shoal Creek Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

8140 Racine Trail, Austin, TX

Sunday services held weekly at 12:00pm

Each week, different members of the congregation are asked by the bishopric (lay ministry) to give talks, prayers, and share musical talents with the congregation. Here is what a typical meeting looks like.

However, the most important part of our worship is the blessing, passing, and partaking of the Lord’s sacrament. As a visitor, you are not expected to partake of the sacrament, it is completely up to you.

On the night before His Crucifixion, Jesus Christ met with His Apostles and instituted the sacrament (see Luke 22:19-20, Bible). After His Resurrection, He also instituted the sacrament among the Nephites (see 3 Nephi 18:1-11, Book of Mormon).

Today the sacrament is an ordinance (a sacred, physical act) in which Church members partake of bread and water in remembrance of Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice. Through this ordinance, Church members renew the covenants they made with God when they were baptized.

The sacrament prayers (see Moroni 4:2-3, Book of Mormon) are given for the bread and water, symbolizing Christ’s body and blood, respectively.
